PRODUCT CARE

KEEP YOUR MIMCO ACCESSORY LOOKING BEAUTIFUL

MIMCO creates unique luxury accessories crafted from fine, high quality materials sourced from around the globe. Understanding how your MIMCO piece has been made and how to care for it is an important part of sustaining its love-forever feeling.

WHAT IS LEATHER?

Leather is a natural material that has unique variations in colour and texture.

MIMCO’s bags, shoes, wallets and other small accessories are crafted from a variety of quality leathers, some of which may fade & soften over time, or be more delicate than others.

Light-coloured leather accessories are prone to absorbing other dyed material, so please take care when wearing these pieces with denim and other dark materials.

PROTECTION

All leather should be protected with protector spray prior to wear, and regularly after to help resist the effects of daily wear. MIMCO’s protector spray can be applied to most leather and suede items. The spray will help prevent lighter coloured leathers absorbing unstable dyes such as denim, however this is not guaranteed by MIMCO.

To protect your item: In an exposed space away from any open flame, hold the protector spray approximately 30cm from your item and spray evenly over the surface, Please ensure you cover any embellishments or hardware before spraying. Allow the item to dry before using or storing. Spray your item every two to three weeks, depending on the frequency of use.

CLEANING

As MIMCO does not sell leather cleaner, we suggest visiting a leather goods repair store or shoe repairer to find the most suitable product to clean your item. Always test any cleaner on an inconspicuous part of your item before applying it completely. Remember to protect your item again after cleaning.

CONDITIONING

Leather conditioners and gels should only be used occasionally as they contain fats or oils that help to lubricate the leather and replenish suppleness. MIMCO’s leather conditioner can be used on most smooth leathers but should NOT be used on any suede, metallic, embossed, vegetable tanned or patent leathers. Always test any conditioner on an inconspicuous part of your item before applying it completely.

To condition: Apply a small amount of conditioner to a soft cloth and massage gently into your item. Allow the item to dry before using or storing. Condition your item every two to three weeks, depending on the frequency of use.

POLISHING

Polishing is a great way to remove fingerprints and dust from leather items, particularly high shine leathers such as patent leather. We recommend using a soft cloth such as the MIMCO dust bag to polish you item.

STORING

We recommend storing leather items in their MIMCO dust bag when not in use. Never store any leather items in plastic and always store them in a cool, dry place away from heat.

QUALITY

LASTS

The majority of MIMCO's shoes have been crafted with custom-made last constructions, which allow us to optimise heel heights, toe shapes and fitting options.

Each of our socks is fitted with a 3mm latex padded sock, which creates a memory fitting effect after repeated wear. They are finished in a fresh neutral shade with a metallic rose gold arc insert.

SOLES

The majority of MIMCO's shoes feature synthetic resin-like soles, and generally will not require re-soling, except in cases of excessive wear. These soles do not absorb water or become slippery in wet conditions. They also feature a laser line etch and signature brand studs: The Supermicra Stud and the MIMCO Heart.

Please take care when wearing your items as they are delicate and could pull or snag easily if caught. We cannot take responsibility for any stones that may fall off due to catching.

Knitted wool scarves can be hand washed with a delicate wool wash. Once washed, they should be rolled in a towel to remove any excess water, and lid flat to dry in the shade. Do not tumble dry.

Our sunglasses can also be cleaned using warm water and natural soap and should be dried immediately after washing. Avoid using solvents or alcohol.

Using other cloths that are dirty or abrasive could alter the features of the lens filter, and MIMCO cannot take responsibility for any alterations that occur through the use of other materials for cleaning. When not in use, store your sunglasses in the MIMCO protective case.
