We are committed to increasing traceability throughout our supply chain and developing responsible sourcing strategies for high risk commodities including cotton, leather and viscose.
We believe traceability is key to making responsible sourcing decisions and making changes that support our goals. We encourage transparency to help us understand industry challenges and make changes.
We engage our material partners to map the leather supply chain. We encourage them to source leather from tanneries accredited against the Leather Working Group (LWG) standard—an environmental standard that promotes sustainable business practices within the leather industry.
In addition to partnering with suppliers that have a progressive approach to chemical management and water stewardship, we are actively involved in various industry working groups dedicated to addressing the complex animal welfare issues within the leather supply chain.

Where possible, we've minimised waste in the packaging of our goods; however; we still maintain a level of packaging to protect our high-quality pieces. Product packaging is a key focus area for us and we are continually working towards improving it.
The Better Cotton Initiative
We’re partnering with the Better Cotton Initiative to transform cotton production globally. We use cotton in the lining and body of a selection of our bags and our scarves. By purchasing cotton products from MIMCO, you’re supporting more responsibly grown cotton through the Better Cotton Initiative.
BCI helps farmers grow cotton in a way that protects the environment and improves the livelihoods of farming communities.

A Work in Progress
Our 9K gold MIM Precious collection features white topaz and precious metal, which has been ethically sourced. We are currently researching more sustainable options for our jewellery supply chain.
We choose to use leather in our collections with a focus on longevity; however, we acknowledge this is met with concerns. We’re continually striving to implement positive changes where we can within the industry.
Animal Welfare +
All manufacturers are required to promote animal welfare by minimising any potential harm, stress or pain to animals, and adhering to relevant national and international standards for animal welfare. Read our full Code of Animal Welfare Principles here.
Angora and Fur +
In response to the animal welfare concerns highlighted by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), MIMCO ceased ordering product containing angora in January 2014. We will maintain this position until ethical standards are being followed by the angora industry.
MIMCO does not condone the use of fur in any of our collections.
